An affectionate man departed
Shah Muhibur Rahman
I started reading western classic books, which are based on the 1860s on Taxas, USA when I was in grade 3. Cowboys, gunfighters, Sheriffs, Ranch owners, bartenders and trail, hideouts, ambush and Indian fighting have were always on my mind. I used to read these books till I got my self in college. I fantasize this kind of world around me and desired to be part of it some day. Heroes of those books used to lead a speedy life. They used to ride houses in speed, were tough looking and smoking all the time. Shah Muhibur Rahman was in my reality driving a awesome Nissan petrol faster then any other human being in Chittagong roads and smoking cigarettes one after another. I connected the portrait of this man with the heroes I read in the classics. He died on September 6, 2005. In relation he was my maternal uncle but in my heart he will always be my first hero.
He carried out a descent life and to me, was a successful man in all regards. He was quite happy with what he got and was optimistic in his approach, always cool & calm and thoughtful. He completed his social and family duties before he went. He raised two excellent offspring who are already established themselves is due areas, left a flat for his wife and of course, he left us with a lot of good memories.
In my childhood, elders around me always showed ‘elderly attitude’, he was an exception. He used to have long conversations with kids regarding everything, we felt important. We played monopoly, he gave his thoughts, we played football, he talked about the history of the game, we talked about cars, he gave us technical knowledge. I remember he used to take spelling tests often, I failed all the time.
I grew up and found that basically he was a very affectionate man. He encouraged me after every major exam though I was always a mediocre student. BIG inspiration.
As I judge him now, I never saw him making jokes of others. Neither had he complained about anything, which made him an outstanding human being.
May light be with you, my hero. Rest in Peace.

Wasim-- a touching tribute to such an endearing man. Thank you. I will miss not being able to hear Khalu say "maa" to me in that affectionate, laughing tone he had with us nieces and nephews; the way he never came empty-handed when visiting us, always with mishti or biscuits for us, fruits for Amma; the way he appreciated the cups of strong, sweet tea I made for him; how he was always the first one to call to congratulate me after even my simplest of achievements; how, even after I got married and came to the US, he and khalamma phoned to check up on me regularly... Simple things, that mean so much now. I still miss Choto Mama a lot, but now Khalu is also with him, and I'm sure they are both up there, strong and smiling, keeping an eye out for our happiness!

Hi,
I have seen the words of affection from two of my cousins for their uncle. I am really glad that abba could left such a touching and enduring memory behind so that you could write something for him. It is very true that he could not do big things for all, but the smaller things that have made people think of him with such kindness.
Here I am long away from home feeling the pains of not having abba behind me. He was always there when I needed support, be it advice or monetary. sometime I could not properly recognise his contribution, but away from home I feel him with all my existance. I am sure that with all the love and prayer that he has got, he will be in jannat. Amin.
I thank you again for your compassion.

Sometimes when we get something without asking then we dont realize what we are getting. I have received the endless love and affection from khalu since I can remember. Now that he is now here I can realize how much. When we were very young I can still remember the smiling face that always welcomed me whenever I met khalu. He had been so very caring and a loving person to all of us. I really can't believe till now that we have actually lost such a wonderful and loving person from our lives. I know that his loss can never be covered with time.
Rubana is right, we also miss choto mama very much. It has been more than 5 years now but he is always in my memory and so will khalu be.
Khalu had been a very delicate person and kullush had always taken a very good care of him since their marriage. Now I pray to Allah to take good care of khalu, now that he is there with Him. Let him rest in peace and be happy in the life in Heaven. I am sure that's exactly where he is now. I will miss him always.

I recently had a person come into my office who had tried numerous things to quit smoking and had failed every time. When I spoke with her about her past experiences, she told me about how horrible and “nervous” she felt while on Zyban / Wellbutrin which is something that many clients tell me.
In examining the reasons why she had not been able to stop smoking, I got an answer that seems strange when you think about it logically, but yet is a very common answer… fear of “losing my best friend”. How can something be your “best friend” when by your own report, you say you hate the sell, inconvenience and cost? She hated being controlled by cigarettes, but yet called them her “best friend”.
The answer surfaced very quickly once I made contact with the “inner smoker” and followed the chain of feelings to determine the “core feeling” was that the “inner smoker” was trying to get by smoking. It was about “love”. At the unconscious level, smoking was “love”. Any wonder it was hard to quit… love is a very basic human need.

There was this guy see.
He wasn't very bright and he reached his adult life without ever having learned "the facts".
Somehow, it gets to be his wedding day.
While he is walking down the isle, his father tugs his sleeve and says,
"Son, when you get to the hotel room...Call me"
Hours later he gets to the hotel room with his beautiful blushing bride and he calls his father,
"Dad, we are the hotel, what do I do?"
"O.K. Son, listen up, take off your clothes and get in the bed, then she should take off her clothes and get in the bed, if not help her. Then either way, ah, call me"
A few moments later...
"Dad we took off our clothes and we are in the bed, what do I do?"
O.K. Son, listen up. Move real close to her and she should move real close to you, and then... Ah, call me."
A few moments later...
"DAD! WE TOOK OFF OUR CLOTHES, GOT IN THE BED AND MOVED REAL CLOSE, WHAT DO I DO???"
"O.K. Son, Listen up, this is the most important part. Stick the long part of your body into the place where she goes to the bathroom."
A few moments later...
"Dad, I've got my foot in the toilet, what do I do?"
